I love The Ark in Space kind of a lot. :D And I think the secondary cast is among my favorites in any Doctor Who serial. And Vira should have been a companion. < /obsessiveness>
Yay, Ark in Space! My first Old Skool serial was "Robot", and while it was undoubtedly awesome with the giant King Kong-type robot, I was a bit confused with all the UNIT-type things and left feeling a bit disoriented. Eventually I tried again with "The Ark in Space". Yeah. Yeah, that did the trick! I was totally hooked.
I think this definitely would be a great story to introduce someone to Classic Who, if they were prepared to appreciate the bubble wrap, that is.
'An Unearthly Child' was what hooked me. That was the third story I watched.

I can't find my DVD now. I think my brother's hidden it after I spent yesterday evening babbling about the awesomeness; he was looking too happy for someone going off to exams.
Just those three so far - there haven't been many. And they were in the proper frame of mind for Old Skool anyway; one of them hadn't seen any Doctor Who at all. So I got lucky, in a lot of ways. :)
I remember being in high school when I first saw this episode--actually, it was my first DW episode ever. I didn't realize I was a lesbian at the time, but the fact that I couldn't take my eyes off both Sarah Jane and Vira might have been a clue...
