I really rather enjoyed that.
I'm not going into depth here, because I found it a fun way to spend an hour and I'm not in the mood to pick at that; I have a sneaking suspicion there were plot holes and borderline bits.
We were wondering whether or not it was an Eastenders reunion at the start. My mum thinks that one of the guards at the beginning was Ross Kemp, but I didn't notice.
There was the obligatory Humans and their Mundane Lives are Special; I Will Save You All; The Doctor is a Hero, Hurray for the Doctor; Doom-Laden Foreshadowing.
There wasn't a horrific casualty rate (see Voyage of the Damned), although I did like Bus Driver Guy. And the bugs. I liked their appearance and their language.
I liked the UNIT side of things. Nice to see Captain Magambo again and Malcolm was quite adorable, especially with the reversal of the phone conversations.
I'm not sure about the Doctor recommending the two lads for UNIT. You can hardly get any higher recommendation, but I can't shake the horrid feeling that UNIT Private = cannon, or whatever weapon the aliens have, fodder. The Doctor rejecting Christina because he always lost his companions wasn't great. Better to have loved and lost? Then she ran off with her anti-gravity bus. I'd imagine she'd be confined to Earth, but still, Iris/Jenny/Christina anyone? Iris and Jenny are travelling together, and Iris and Christina could compare buses.
Overall, I really wanted to see more. I wanted to see the world before it was devastated; I wanted to see more of the bug people, and I wanted more of Christina's character: she never quite managed to be three-dimensional to me.

Date: 2009-04-12 03:34 am (UTC)I think this was it exactly for me. I liked it, it was an enjoyable hour, but I wanted more.
I rather hope Christina can find someone to fix up the bus for her. The only thing better than a flying bus is a flying bus that doesn't look like it's going to fall apart. And Christina/Jenny is win.

Other than that, lovely! =)
